Andrea Fieldman: Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom – “Everybody is Welcome!”

4100 Rue Sherbrooke

Andrea Fieldman was born in 1939 and grew up in Montreal’s Lakeshore area, where life was marked by ten-party phone lines and the occasional run-in with antisemitism. A member of Temple Emanu-El Beth Sholom (Canada’s oldest Reform synagogue) since childhood, Andrea has been teaching at Temple’s supplementary Torah School for over four decades. Listen as she looks back at the synagogue’s long history of interfaith work and inclusiveness, discusses its transformation throughout the years, and reflects on both the past and the future of her career as an educator - all with a touch of humour.
