Listen to Dr. Phil Gold as he discusses his incredible career as an immunologist in Montreal. Several years after graduating from medical school at McGill University, Phil and his colleague, Dr. Samuel Freedman, discovered the carcinoembryonic antigen; the first clinically useful human tumour marker. The discovery has helped shape the field of immunology and the marker continues to serve as the most frequently used blood test in oncology to date. Phil has also had a long and successful career at the Montreal General Hospital and is credited with founding the McGill Cancer Research Centre, now the Goodman Cancer Research Centre. He was inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame in 2010.
