Rena Gornitsky: History of the Yavna B’nai Parnass Synagogue and the Parnass Family in Montreal

4690 Rue Hutchison

Listen to Rena Gornitsky talk about her family's legacy and significant contribution to Montreal's Jewish community. Covering the founding of the Yavna B'nai Parnass Synagogue by her great-grandparents, Pinchas and Raizel Parnass, as well as the important work done by her grandparents, Abraham Parnass and Shifra Parnass (Balinsky), Rena Gornitsky provides many important historical details in this oral history, as well as many personal family anecdotes. The Yavna B'nai Parnass (1925-1991) was the second synagogue owned by the Parnass family and was the only privately owned shul in Montreal.
